I’m normally all about heading straight for the woods when it’s time for engagement photos. But when Amanda told me that she and Josh had their first date in downtown Denver at my FAVORITE bar and that he proposed in the same place a Larimer Square engagement sounded just right.

Larimer Square is one of my favorite spots in Denver. Besides being the home of my favorite bar, it’s also chock full of fabulous restaurants for any taste and shops sporting wares for any style. And it’s always, ALWAYS so dang pretty.

I became a fan of Amanda pretty much immediately, before we even met for the first time. We had made plans to meet for drinks to talk about her wedding and the love story she’s living with Josh, and she texted me to see if I could meet a little earlier than planned. I told her it depended on how put together she wanted me to be – I was finishing up my workout and could make the earlier time but not if I was going to shower first.

Amanda’s response? “Girl, let’s meet at 5 for a drink we’ve both earned.”

Yep. This girl was my kind of people.

After a long chat over drinks I was even more pumped, and after meeting Josh at their engagement session this week I’m officially #obsessed.

Amanda and Josh just seem to FIT. They way they talk and interact and touch each other; it’s got this ease and beauty to it that fills up my heart to see. So eager to do whatever it takes to make the other one smile and laugh. Though it didn’t seem like they had to try very hard.

The awesome thing about a Larimer Square engagement is the beautiful nooks and crannies. So many different ways to tell a tiny love story!

Amanda and Josh are getting married Labor Day weekend (just like me and Nate, woot woot!). The flags across Larimer Square seemed like the perfect accent to set the stage.

This one is my FAVORITE. There’s so much joy and trust and connection in this one frame! It’s a perfect example of how I like to make portraits. I didn’t tell Amanda to make this face. This expression is simply the result of asking them to interact. It’s the REAL DEAL!!

We finished up with a drink at the bar where Amanda and Josh had their very first date. Right at this very table as a matter of fact.

If Amanda and Josh hadn’t already won my heart, they would have with their drink orders. Old Fashionds all around.
