Romantic Mount Lemmon Elopement

Sometimes, when the military hands you deployment lemons, you just have to make romantic Mount Lemmon elopement lemonade.

And this is some pretty darn romantic lemonade.

Okay, this metaphor isn’t really working for me, but you get the idea.

When I heard Christina and Kyle’s story from a fellow photographer I immediately offered my services. I wanted to help document their whirlwind elopement! Just two days before Kyle had received orders for an immediate deployment and he went home to propose to his long-time girlfriend Christina. She joyfully accepted and they quickly began planning a sunset ceremony at Tucson’s Windy Point near the top of Mount Lemmon.

Christina’s mother, grandmother, her brothers and a few close friends helped pull it all together. They found her the perfect a pink wedding dress, flowers, and balloons. Kyle’s family was too far away to attend on such short notice, but were present in the form of video calls and cheered just as loudly as the rest of the crowd when the couple shared their first kiss as man and wife. It was a good kiss too! I encourage all my couples to take their time with that first one – it’s special (and it makes for killer photo ops when you make it last a little longer)! These two needed no encouragement.

A Mount Lemmon elopement comes guaranteed with a beautiful sunset. You have to bring your own romance though, and Kyle and Christina came abundantly prepared. They are so in love!

We finished off Christina and Kyle’s Mount Lemmon elopement with a shot of the sunset and the Tucson lights, and it might just have been the most romantic shot of the day.

This won’t be the first deployment Christina and Kyle have endured, and it probably won’t be the last. But this time they’ll have rings on their fingers to remind them that they’re never alone, no matter how far apart they are.
